BETTER THAN METAL! This is a lensboard intended to attach to the threads of a 178mm 7" F2.5 Aero Ektar for the Graflex Speed Graphic & Crown Graphic cameras. The threads are designed with excellent tolerances that give it a comfortably snug fit to your lens. It's also designed in such a way that, fully tightened, the top mounting point faces directly vertical - allowing you to mount a lens hood without it being crooked. Every lensboard is individually fit tested with an Aero Ektar and a late model Speed Graphic.


It is manufactured in a material called Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate, or ASA. This an excellent material that is UV, chemical, and temperature resistant while being both strong and durable. This material is safe up to 100 degrees Celcius / 212 degrees Fahrenheit which means it will not deform if you use it in the sun or inside your car even in the most extreme desert environments.

The downside of a metal CNC'ed lensboard compared to this ASA lensboard is threefold: 
  1. The threads will be rough and abrasive which may wear the paint and metal of your lens if screwed/unscrewed often. None of these issues are present with ASA lensboards like this one.
  2. Unless manufactured with a very expensive machine, the threads of a metal lensboard will feel rough and loose. 
  3. Metal does not like to flex upon impact like ASA. If you drop your camera, a metal lensboard is likelier to cause damage to your Graflex & lens than an ASA lensboard like this one.
If your lensboard fails for reasons other than intentional damage, we will replace it without charge for up to 3 months after your purchase.
