"COLLINS 51S-1 F, SPECIALLY MODIFIED FOR MILITARY BY ADDING EXTRA FILTERS.
FILTERS LOOK LIKE,,, MILLER MADE 455KC IF COILS ARE CONVERTED TO 500KC.
SOME OF THESE STILL WORK OK BUT MANY NEED TO BE RETESTED AT COMPONENT LEVEL.
MODE SWITCH SAYS 100 800 USB LSB 3KC 5KC.100HZ AND 3KC ARE MADE OUT OF
MILLER COIL KITS.TWO POLE FOR 3KC AND 4POLES FOR 100.,,,5KC IS BY ORIGINAL
COLLINS COILS,,IT IS WIDER THAN 5KC.,,A RELAY IS ADDED TO TURN ON SOMETHING
WHEN THE RECEIVER GOT TURNED ON.ANT INPUT IS CONVERTED TO BNC CONNECTOR.

ALL UNITS ARE TESTED BY ME,,,OVERALL THEY ALL WORK,,BUT NOTICEABLE
DEFECTS ARE [Other Serial Numbers - No defects noted on 3697] SOME ARE WIRED VERY CLEAN AND NO PROBLEM BUT MOST LOOK LIKE BEING WIRED
BY IDIOTS,,LONG LOOSE WIRES HANGING OVER OTHER CIRCUIT,,AND CREATE IF
OSCILLATION.TO STOP IT THEY DETUNED IF COILS AND SOLD TO THE GOVERNMENT.
YOU MUST CLEAN THOSE WIRINGS OR REPLACE THEM AWAY FROM OTHER IF CIRCUIT.
I TRIED IN TWO UNITS AND WORKED OK.
SOME HAS NO COLLINS KNOBS. ALSO DECAL OF MODE SWITCH COME
OFF EASILY,,BENEATH [the decal] IS THE ORIGINAL 51S1 FRONT PANEL.
OVERALL ALL HAVE CLEAN FRONT PANEL,,,CLEAN CHASSIS BECAUSE THESE CAME
OUT OF A BASE IN A DESERT."
