This listing is for a Kinoptik APO Apochromat 50mm F2 in Eclair CM3 Mount.
This lens is in decent condition given its age, however, there are some minor flaws. Internally, there is some dust present which should not affect image quality unless shooting at f16. The front element has some spots that did not come off with an alcohol-based lens cleaner. It is possible that a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and ammonia may remove these spots, but they may be permanent marks left behind by fungus that was previously cleaned and sterilized. These marks are very minor and are unlikely to affect image quality in any way. Additionally, there is a small amount of internal haze present, but it has been confirmed not to be balsam separation. This haze is only visible when a flashlight is shone through the lens and is common in vintage lenses due to the evaporation of lubricating oils over time, leaving a thin film on the lens elements. It is unlikely to affect image quality in any way. An internal lens group may have a slight case of balsam separation. Separation is very minor however and is also unlikely to have an effect on image quality.
The external barrel is in good shape with only some scuffs in the paint as shown in pictures. Aperture turns smoothly. Focusing helicoid moves freely although the movement is not smooth like a freshly oiled lens (which should have no effect on it's practical use).
Included with this lens is a custom protective case.
The case has two lids - one is a solid lid, The other is a two sided piece with a grid on one end so that desiccant can be included to protect the unit from moisture.
